It’s here! iPhone fans can rejoice as the new iPhone 13 has just been unveiled at the Live Apple Event. Kaiann Drance, VP of iPhone Marketing was on stage to discuss everything about the iPhone 13. She first began with the 13’s sleek design, one that iPhone owners have come to love. The iPhone 13 will come equipped with Apple’s exclusive Ceramic Shield for protection and offer an IP68 water resistance.

The Live Event, which began at 10 am on the West Coast, started first with Apple CEO Tim Cook welcoming everyone. He then passed things over to Melody Kuna, Senior Manager for iPad Product Design, to talk about the new iPad.

Next came Jeff Williams, Apple’s COO, to talk about the new Apple Watch Series 7. These two items, while impressive in their own rights, were only the warmup for what all iPhone fans were waiting for, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini.

The iPhone 13 will have a new TrueDepth camera look, with its lenses set up diagonally on the phone. They are also built to fit into a space that is 20% smaller than previous designs.

The iPhone 13 will also be offered in five new colors: blue, pink, midnight, starlight, and red.

Drance then moved on to the inside workings of the iPhone 13. Inside, the build has been redesigned to allow for a bigger battery and new capabilities that include a Super Retina XDR display that will offer iPhone lovers 28% more brightness.

Another big advance for the iPhone 13 is its chip. The new phone will carry the A15 Bionic chip, further distancing the iPhone from its competition.

The new 6-core CPU will be the fastest one in any smartphone on the market, with speeds of up to 50% faster than any competitor.

Another huge upgrade comes with the iPhone 13’s graphics. Employing a new 16-core Neural Engine, the iPhone 13 will crank out graphics at a clip of 30% faster than any of the top competitors in the smartphone game.

Back to the iPhone 13’s camera, Drance spoke about how their newest model will offer the most advanced dual-system camera to date. The ultra-wide lens looks to deliver even better pictures with the same sensor-shift technology seen from their iPhone 12 Pro.

Showing examples of what the iPhone 13 cameras can accomplish viewers were treated to the iPhone 13’s cinematic mode that shoots in Dolby Vision HDR. Also impressive was how the camera held focus on its subject even while said subject was on the move.

5G is the new thing when it comes to new smartphones and the iPhone 13 looks to expand its 5G reach. Apple has brought in more partners with plans to double that count to over 200 carriers across 60 countries by the end of the year.

Now, all this is fine and dandy but if the battery isn’t powerful, then why get the phone? According to Drance, the new iPhone 13 mini will give customers 1.5 hours more than the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 13 will allow for 2.5 hours more life than the iPhone 12.

How about storage? This has always been a point of contention, one that Apple seems to have resolved. The iPhone 13 will now have a base storage of 128GB while finally offering customers a 512GB option. They will also have a 256GB phone as well.

Finally, what about the price point for the new iPhone 13. The iPhone 13 mini will start at $699, and the iPhone 13 will offer an entry price of $799. Obviously, these prices will jump with the more memory you want. Apple will also offer the iPhone 13 Pro model which will start at $999, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which starts at $1,099.

If you want to get your hands on one of these little beauties, Apple is taking pre-orders right now with its official launch on September 24, 2021.
