Big news for international travelers thinking about a holiday in Dubai! United Arab Emirates is becoming more readily available. The major airline, United Airlines, has announced they are partnering with one-time competitor Emirates Airline. United Airlines, based in Chicago, Illinois, and UAE’s premier airline, Emirates, has announced United Airlines will be adding another USA to Dubai flight, establishing itself in the Emirates hub.

Dubai To New York

Within the new deal, CNBC reports that United Airlines will fly from Dubai to Newark Liberty International Airport from March 2023, using the Emirates hub. This flight will be the first time in seven years United Airlines will take a flight to United Arab Emirates (UAE), and it will be the only US airline to carry passengers to the UAE. Adding this flight to their roster will bring the number of Dubai to US flights to fifteen. The highest number of flights was eighteen, held in pre-pandemic 2017.

The CEOs announced that this new agreement would give both airlines access to carrier destinations in each country. The president of Emirates, Tim Clark, was quoted ‘He hopes the United Airlines agreement could someday grow into a joint venture as the one Emirates has with Qantas, the Australian carrier.’

While Emirates is cementing its relationship with United Airlines, it has cut ties with JetBlue Airways. Their partnership with ends on October 30th. JetBlue will instead pick up a new collaboration with Abu-Dhabi-based Etihad. This partnership is a positive move for the airlines that have suffered significant losses during the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic and various lockdowns and restrictions.

Frequent Flier Miles For United Airlines And Emirates Customers

Also, they announced that they would be selling tickets for each other’s planes, making a turnaround in the airline’s historically strained relationship.

Good news for the frequent flyer out there! If regulators approve the partnership, passengers can use their frequent flyer miles on both airliners, giving people value for money and more choices on locations to use their miles. A win for both airlines’ customer service.

The airline’s relationship historically has been strained as United Airlines has previously lobbied with other American airlines about the Persian Gulf airline’s expansion into the USA.

Great Choice For Travelers

United Airlines flight is non-stop from New York City to Dubai, which will help it become an important choice when passengers organize their holidays or business trips. By flying from Dubai to Newark, passengers will be able to connect to over 100 destinations, making Newark an obvious choice for the airline giants to pick as their hub.

Among all the negative press that the travel sector has been getting this year, including staff shortages and numerous cancellations, it is a relief to passengers to hear about the start of a brand new, productive relationship. Not only will consumers now receive a more significant choice in travel times, but the addition of an extra non-stop flight will make traveling to these long-haul countries that bit more manageable. Also, using frequent flyer miles on either airline makes travel less expensive for the hard-working people of America.
