Shoppers were greeted by goats at a Target located just north of Houston, Texas, but it still remains a mystery how the goats got into Target in the first place.

Target shoppers know that when they walk into a store, they may find something unexpected and leave with more than they bargained for. But usually, that translates into carts overflowing with products. However, news from one Target location gave a new meaning to the term “unexpected.”

Target shoppers know that when they walk into a store, they may find something unexpected and leave with more than they bargained for. But usually, that translates into carts overflowing with products. However, news from one Target location gave a new meaning to the term “unexpected.”

That’s right. Goats greeted some Target shoppers in Harris County, Texas.

Harris County is in the southeastern portion of Texas and includes the city of Houston. The goats paid a visit to the Target off Cypresswood Dr in Spring, Texas, just north of Houston. Their presence understandably caused quite a stir.

The state is home to plenty of wildlife and farm animals. But they usually don’t make their way into a retail establishment. However, these cute little critters decided to shake things up a bit.

Store employees phoned the local authorities for help. Harris County Constable Precinct 4 was the responding agency. They even posted about the encounter on their official Facebook page and infused a little humor into the situation.

The post read, “HAPPENING NOW: TIME TO GOAT HOME!

Deputy Austin with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the Target located in the 200 block of Cypresswood Drive in reference to two goats wandering through the store.

Upon arriving, he located the two fleeing suspects, and they are now safely contained waiting for Harris County Animal Livestock. They also included some great snapshots of the two cuties, including one that showed a goat casually lounging next to a door.

According to KHOU-11, a local news station, “Deputies showed up and were able to corral the animals and turn them over to trained professionals.” Livestock officials showed up to rescue the poor goats.

It is unclear where the goat duo came from. Or why the goats settled on Target, to begin with. Unlike many other domesticated animals, goats don’t often wear ID tags.

And Spring, Texas, is not exactly the center of farmland. It is technically considered a census-designated place (CDP) within the greater Houston metro area. At the time of the 2020 census, the population was 62,559.

The lucky Target-goers who got to admire cute goats happened to stop at the right location that day. In the city of Houston alone, there are 16 Target stores. And there are two in Spring, Texas.

Their presence caught the attention of nearly every local news outlet, which is no surprise. Fox26 said, “Only in Texas ya’ll….” Isn’t that the truth?

There is no official comment from the local Target about what may have transpired. So, for the time being, the cause of their enjoyable presence will remain a mystery. Thanks to the speedy response of both local agencies, neither goat got hurt in the encounter.

But the goats aren’t the biggest story about Target recently. Many locations have begun massive renovations and complete design overhauls. Additionally, the company as a whole has announced a series of significant partnerships with high-end brands.

So you may soon see some new happenings at your favorite local Target. Just don’t expect goats. Or any other livestock for that matter.
