Walmart chicken is being recalled nationwide due to a serious public health risk. The retail giant issued an urgent Walmart chicken recall for products sold in 28 states across the US. The recall affects roughly 6,000 pounds of chicken manufactured by Innovasian and distributed by Mountain View Packaging, LLC.

The products included in the Walmart chicken recall pertain solely to the frozen Crispy Chicken with Almonds entrée by Innovasion. The recall was issued after consumers reported finding shrimp in the chicken dish. Shrimp was not listed on the packaging as an ingredient, nor was it disclosed as a potential allergen.

Mountain View Packaging did not detect the anomaly via its own quality control team. The issue was only made visible by consumers who noticed the unlisted shrimp contents. It was only then that the distributor moved to issue the urgent Walmart Chicken recall.

The Walmart chicken recall only affects the Crispy Chicken with Almonds frozen entrées that were packaged on November 17, 2022. Key product identifiers include the dish’s lot and UPC codes. The lot code is 22321-1, and the UPC is 695119120499. Consumers should also look for a best-eaten-by date listed as 05/24/2023. Entrees manufactured after this date are not currently listed as being a part of the Walmart chicken recall.
