Minecraft has partnered with several snack food companies over the years, and now it’s adding frozen treats to the list by teaming up with Nick’s Swedish Ice Cream. The limited-edition dessert collection boasts packaging inspired by the sandbox video game, with its most prominent feature being the square containers. The collaboration features four different flavors and is currently available online for $9.99 per pint.

Promoting the one-of-a-kind ice cream on its website, the Swedish company said, “Nick’s and Minecraft both celebrate building an ideal world where your favorite sweet treats aren’t bad for you!” The post added that due to their special formula, folks can forget about calories, sugars, or fats and just lose themselves in the pure joy of mining for delicious peanut butter cups, nuggets of emerald peppermint chips, and even tasty bits of apple pie.

The blocky Minecraft is available in four delicious flavors. And, much like Nick’s other ice creams, these pints have the company’s signature formulation with fewer calories, fats, and sugar than other brands. Instead of sugar, the food maker sweetens its ice cream with natural alternatives like stevia, allulose, erythritol, and xylitol. The company also uses Epogee Foods’ fat-replacing ingredient EPG, which is a rapeseed oil-based fat substitute that reduces calories by 92% because the oil cannot be absorbed by the body, FoodDive reports.

Emerald Minta is described as a creamy mint ice cream peppered with tasty peppermint chips. Cake Blocka is a delicious birthday cake flavor swirled with luscious strawberries and dotted with sprinkles. The Peanöt Choklad Glowdust ice cream has a rich chocolate taste with little gold mines of peanut butter cups. And Enchanted Äpple Pie is a sweet apple pie-inspired treat with a magical swirl of graham cracker crumble. Every flavor pairs perfectly with a game of Minecraft.

Away from snack foods, Minecraft has been a global phenomenon since being developed by Mojang Studios. The game was created by Markus “Notch” Persson in the Java programming language and was first launched in 2009. In the years that followed, the sandbox game has been ported to several platforms and is the best-selling video game of all time. As of 2021, it has sold over 238 million copies and boasts almost 140 million monthly active players.

Minecraft, which uses square-shaped eight-bit graphics, allows gamers to build and create their own worlds while interacting with a variety of landscapes, climates, people, wildlife, and zombies. It can be played as a survival adventure game, or be customized into a historical educational journey. The game can also be played as a treasure quest. And since it’s an online game, players from around the world can interact in the square-based landscape.

While serious Minecraft gamers generally don’t eat ice cream while playing due to the distraction of it all, casual players tend to pause for a sweet snack. A 2021 survey by NewZoo, found that 38% of people in the North American gaming community eat sweet snacks while in front of a screen. Although Nick’s ice cream isn’t as healthy as apple slices, the pints are a good option.
