A year after dropping the cheeseburger from its menu, Wendy’s is bringing back the entire Pretzel Bacon Pub line. Along with the popular burger, the chicken sandwich is also making a return. But this time it comes in three varieties which include Classic, Spicy, and Grilled options. According to Chew Boom, the delicious foods are already available at the chain’s locations. Before being discontinued, all four products in the mouthwatering lineup featured a custom-made warm beer cheese sauce, smoky honey mustard, applewood-smoked bacon, fried onions, pickles, a slice of muenster cheese, and an extra soft pretzel bun.

With so much goodness crammed into one burger, foodies wondered why Wendy’s decided to drop the entire Pretzel Bacon Pub line last year. At the time, the answer was simple. The eatery needed to make room for the Big Bacon Cheddar Burger and Chicken Sandwich which were all the rage in the fall of 2021. But now, the Big Bacon Cheddar lineup is being retired to facilitate the return of the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger and sandwiches. Before the official announcement, a leaked internal memo revealing the decision made its way to Reddit. “We are thrilled to bring back the fan-favorite Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger and Chicken Sandwich, along with Pub Fries,” the document reads.

Wendy’s first toyed with pretzel buns back in 2013. But the venture didn’t last too long despite a positive response from customers. Then in 2020, when the entire fast-food industry enjoyed a pandemic-related resurgence, Wendy’s Vice President of culinary innovation John Li wanted to create a new take on the traditional pretzel burger which became the Pretzel Bacon Pub lineup. When the sandwiches first debuted, Li said he was confident that his Oktoberfest kitchen sink sandwich would be a big hit. And he was right. The entire line enjoyed rave reviews before and after discontinuation.

Interestingly, the leaked memo also listed a few other items which made their official return last month. This included the ever-popular French Toast Sticks and Sausage Gravy. “French Toast Sticks will play an important role on our menu and fill a space that we deliberately left open at launch,” the leaked memo said. The fast-food chain announced its new Homestyle French Toast Sticks with a maple syrup dip on the side in August. Speaking about the delicious breakfast food in a statement, Wendy’s Chief Marketing Officer said the new menu item takes on competitors by giving fans a better breakfast worthy of their first meal of the day.

“Our Homestyle French Toast Sticks strike a perfect note of nostalgia and bring even more morning flavor to our menu – this time with something sweet,” he said via the New York Post. “From day one, we launched our breakfast offering to save fans from the boring and bland morning options that exist at some of our competitors, and we’ve done just that.” Wendy’s French Toast Sticks are made with real eggs, dipped in milk custard with a hint of vanilla. They are available in four-piece, six-piece, or six-piece combo options. These foods also include seasoned potatoes and a beverage.
