Oreo Reveals New Holiday Baking-Inspired Flavor

Oreo, known for releasing tons of fun flavors for its cookies, announced it will be launching Snickerdoodle Oreos just in time for the coming holidays.

Oreo is a snack company that’s known for releasing fun and inventively flavored cookies, always incorporating new trends, holidays, and events into its packaging. Just in time for the upcoming season, the cookie company will release the new Snickerdoodle Oreos based on the delicious Christmas classic. The Oreos will have the classic cookie flavoring on the outside, while the inside is filled with a signature ginger creme with red and green sugar crystals.

Oreo had been teasing the upcoming flavor with various cryptic tweets, upping their social media and advertising game. The brand tweeted, “Want to know the next OREO Cookie flavor?” on its verified Twitter account last week. Then, the report published an even more confusing tweet, stating that the first word of the past eight tweets would construct the newest Oreo flavor.

Based on their Twitter riddle, people surmised that the next flavor would be Snickerdoodle Oreos. These packages will be released on October 17th and will be a limited-edition release for an unknown period of time. The brand is taking to TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter to promote this upcoming variety, combining nostalgic holiday spices and flavors.

Most brands have integrated TikTok into their social media campaign, utilizing silly tactics and trends to get their latest products into the mainstream. Oreo’s recently established TikTok account published a Snickerdoodle Oreo-themed video where someone dressed in typical grandmother clothing is dancing around their kitchen, holding up the packaging. Since TikTok is known for its dance and choreography videos, the cookie brand smartly integrated the art form into its promotional material.

The video includes the caption “not your grandma’s snickerdoodle cookie,” alluding to the reinterpretation of the classic dessert. Other cookies and snack brands join in on the fun, with their social media reps commenting on the fun-filled, dancing video. Chips Ahoy commented on the Snickerdoodle video by applauding the grandma’s dance moves.

Oreo hasn’t shied away from releasing limited-edition products with imaginative flavors. Over the summer, the cookie brand launched their Neapolitan cookie, based on the famous ice cream dessert. The base cookies were waffle-cone flavored, while the creme inside was triple-stuffed with vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate.

Similar to the Snickerdoodle Oreos, the brand released a holiday-inspired cookie during the early summer months. The snack brand released an Oreo’s Pride Pack, stamped with the word “proud” on the top of the cookies. The packaging also came in a rainbow outer layer, representing the colors and joy of pride month.

Often, Oreo will partner with an organization for their limited-edition releases. During pride month, the cookie company joined forces with PFLAG National, which is a leading LGBTQ+ organization in the country, to show their solidarity. The packaging left a space for people to write their own comments, too, encouraging customers to add their own personalized notes on pride month and for their loved ones.
