Interest in analog photography is steadily and rapidly increasing. The longtime company, Kodak, is working double time to keep up with demand. As retro aesthetic is currently popular among many different people and photographers are looking for a certain creative flair, the interest in the long-time brand is reaching new heights.

Kodak made its first camera available to consumers in 1888, that’s nearly 135 years ago! The company wanted to make photography accessible and as simple as pressing a button. Just one short year later, Kodak produced the firsts commercial roll of film.

Throughout the years, Kodak has continued to produce innovative photography products and has been a leader in the photography world. The company was actually the inventor of the world’s very first digital camera, which was invented in 1975. Today, Kodak has a primary focus on business solutions and the manufacturing of films and chemicals.

The company has faced some financial troubles in the past and even declared bankruptcy, hence the reason why one of its primary focuses is business solutions. During the bankruptcy process, Kodak was working to transform and adjust the company and business structure into a viable and sustainable business. Despite the previous financial struggles, things are looking up for the company as interest in analog photography has been significantly increasing over the past two years.

Kodak is the last company of its kind as far as producing color films and this puts them in a win-win situation as the demand is at an all-time high. With film flying off the shelves, a need to keep up with demand, and overall a boom in the business, Kodak is looking to hire qualified candidates. The company is looking to fill several different positions including, chemists, engineers, and more to keep up with demand.

As the pandemic caused worldwide lockdowns, photographers and all people were looking for something to do a little out of the ordinary. Everyone loves photos and the Kodak Instant Film camera was just the thing consumers were looking for. Since then, film photography has continued to increase in popularity.

The picture quality that Kodak film photography offers is also notably different from digital photography. Film offers a certain aesthetic that just cannot be achieved with modern digital photography. As photographers looked for a certain edge to diversify their photography portfolios and even just searched for a different look in a creative outlet, Kodak became the obvious answer.

With such an interest in analog photography, Kodak has switched from a five-day-a-week operation to a complete 24-hour a day seven day week business operation. The company has taken on over 300 new hires in the past 18 months alone and will hire even more in the coming months. This is an exciting time for the company compared to the past years as they have been fighting through bankruptcy.

As more and more people look to fulfill their creative itch through analog photography, Kodak will continue to work to keep up with demand. The quality and aesthetic of the photos produced from Kodak film are unmistakable. Photographers and those interested in the art can look forward to seeing more products on the shelf as the company is continuing to fulfill customer needs as it has for the past 135 years
