Earlier this year, Apple ran into a few issues when its iOS systems started experiencing security complications. Finally, the tech company has promised a new update for those dealing with data vulnerabilities. This iOS update will be available for all computers, tablets, and iPhones.

The iOS update will fix a bug that has been plaguing systems for the past few months. This bug allows hackers to gain easier access to private data from internal operating systems. Though Apple announced they were aware of the bug affecting their products, the company never stated if any severe damage occurred from internal hacks. Apple also didn’t elaborate on if hackers could gain entry to a person’s entire device. Though not much is clear about how significant the breaches were, it’s clear that Apple acted as quickly as possible to update the internal systems.

Apple identified two particular malfunctions to eradicate for their iOS update. The first malfunction, called CVE-2022-22675, allowed hackers to import malicious code into three different operating systems. This means that a hacker had the potential to receive partial access to a customer’s device, including private information, credit card numbers, etc. The second malfunction, CVE-2022-22674, affected a MacOS’s operating system and its hardware memory.

On top of addressing the two vulnerabilities, the newest iOS update also removes a bug plaguing iPhones. This particular bug was draining the battery in iPhones too quickly. Though it’s normal to notice your phone draining faster after continual usage, this issue resulted from a hardware malfunction. The rapid battery-drain issue has now been dealt with in the recent iOS update, including an update for its Braille attachments that were previously faulty.

This iOS update comes after the recent Apple iOS 15.4 upgrade released last month. The update was for all computer products and iPads, compatible with 15 products that Apple distributes. Those with an iPhone 6S and later will be able to upgrade their systems as well. If you have these relatively newer devices, your technology should instantly prompt you to download the latest software.

On top of the two vulnerabilities mentioned, iOS 15.4 was released instantly to concerns about its malfunctions. Unstable WiFi connectivity was an issue many noticed from updating their products to the recent software. Another issue was irregular storage consumption, where users noticed that their storage had depleted significantly for no reason. Apple quickly responded to users dealing with storage issues and removed this bug in the following iOS update.

Though the iPhone, iPad, and iMac got a few complications from the iOS 15.4 update, the benefits are also crucial to acknowledge. A massive change to Apple’s FaceID technology helps those unlock their phones even with a mask or facial covering on, a necessary change for a pandemic-informed world. New emojis are also included in this update, like various hand gestures and household items.

Though Apple has released new products with upgrades in the past few months, their revolutionary technology is far from perfect. With this new iOS update, security issues plaguing previous operating systems have thankfully been removed, giving Apple users some needed peace of mind.
