As the summer months approach, people are always searching for ways to cool down. Fortunately, Wendy’s has a delicious solution! For the first time in almost three years, the popular fast-food chain has added a new Frosty to its lineup. Early this week, the eatery launched a strawberry version of the beloved drink which is available across the United States for a limited time only. Take a look at it in all of its sumptuous glory below.

The introduction of a new flavor to Wendy’s signature frozen dairy dessert is a rarity. The classic chocolate flavor made its debut on the menu when the restaurant opened in 1969. In August 2006, the franchise bowed to customer pleas for a new flavor and added a vanilla option. Over a decade later, the fast-food chain temporarily showcased a Birthday Cake Frosty Cookie Sundae to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2019.

Speaking about the Strawberry Frosty, Wendy’s Chief Marketing Officer Carl Loredo told CNN Business it was the flavor’s popularity in Canada that inspired the company to launch the product locally. After becoming one of the chain’s most talked about items online, the momentum continued when the strawberry flavor was tested in a few American cities. “The net of it was that we ran out of product halfway through the program because people loved it so much,” Loredo told the publication.

In a statement about Wendy’s new menu addition, Carl Loredo continued, “We’re always listening to our fans, and as the most-requested item, it was a no-brainer for us to bring the Strawberry Frosty to the menu this season. It’s highly anticipated. I dare say as anticipated as the launch of our spicy nuggets.” Taking a swipe at their Golden Arched rival, he said fans can dip into this new strawberry treat all summer long while some of our competitors are still trying to get their ice cream machines to work.

Wendy’s summer menu includes more than just one strawberry-focused arrival. Also returning for the third summer in a row is the Summer Strawberry Chicken salad. The dish features a tasty combination of freshly sliced strawberries with bacon and grilled chicken, served atop a bed of crispy lettuce and spring mix. If that’s not enough, it also comes with an Italian cheese blend, candied almonds, and a Champagne vinaigrette.

Sadly, the entrance of Wendy’s Strawberry Frosty comes at a small cost. Since the eatery’s Frosty machines are only set up to handle two flavors, vanilla had to be temporarily sacrificed. John Li, Vice President of Culinary Innovation, said the choice was made because the Vanilla Frosty forms the base of the new Strawberry Frosty.

Wendy’s Strawberry Frosty will be available in different sizes and prices through July 3rd. Both the dessert drink and the new salad are currently available to order in the restaurant or through the outlet’s app. And if you order the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad in the app, you can earn a free small order of fries, USA Today reports. Moreover, the company says customers who order through the app will earn net points that can be used toward a free Strawberry Frosty.
