Twitter Layoffs Are Continuing, Here’s What It Means For The Company

As the Twitter saga continues under Elon Musk’s reign, the big blue bird continues to suffer a long slow death spiral. As hundreds of thousands of folks dropped Twitter for Mastodon and Twitter decides to ban top journalists, Musk continues his reign of Twitter layoffs and terror.

According to CNN, yet another round of Twitter layoffs took place last Thursday as talent from the legal team and the public policy team were continually axed. Layoffs began last month as Musk let go half of the entire company and anyone who would not be willing to work “hardcore.” According to Musk, this means that anyone not entirely dedicated to Twitter and willing to work day and night would be let go.

About 100 folks who have been victimized by the Twitter layoffs have started a class action lawsuit against the social media brand and Elon Musk. Those involved said that Twitter layoffs were unfair practices when it came to executing the layoffs. Those involved say that workers who are disabled and needed to work from home were axed. In addition, reportedly a large number of women were laid off as well. These acts are against the law.

As Twitter hemorrhages money, as well as advertisers, Musk posted a poll asking the public if he should resign as CEO. The answer was overwhelmingly yes. Because Musk is all about public opinion and being a very public figure, he says he will indeed resign as soon as he can find someone “stupid” enough to run the company.

In one of the more recent rounds of Twitter layoffs, Musk suddenly axed engineers and coders right before the Thanksgiving holiday. Musk allegedly had said there would be no more layoffs after the previous round, but apparently, he was lying. The members of the class action lawsuit are also saying that the incredibly short notice is also against the law

As Twitter allegedly has not turned a profit in years, Musk is desperate to turn things around for the company as his latest venture into adding a Twitter Blue subscription service is failing. Twitter layoffs continue until morale improves, which apparently will not happen any time soon.

The brand is in such poor condition that the Twitter layoffs have led to a so-called firesale where office supplies are being sold, including the famed Twitter bird that hung on the building. Reportedly, top-of-the-line office chairs, luxury Eames loungers, high-end coffee makers that retail for $20,000, and even @ branded 6-foot high planters will be auctioned off in an attempt to recoup some of the money Twitter has lost. This actuation will likely not even put a dent in Twitter’s debt.

What the future holds for Elon Musk and his silly Twitter venture, one can only guess. But as Twitter layoffs continue and Musk makes more demands on his workers as he borrows more money from his Tesla stock, it becomes clear that Musk is sending Twitter on a downward spiral. And this Twitter bird can no longer fly.
