Vintage Pictures That Are Definitely Haunted

As time moves us all forward, we are left with relics of the past. Some of the most loved and useful of these relics are photographs. They allow us to take a glimpse at what life in the past was like and almost feel as though we were there.

There are some photos from the past, though, where we look at them and are glad that we actually weren’t there. It’s wild the things that have happened in the past that we see as super creepy now.

Does The Fact That It’s Real Make It Scarier?

This photo is of the tomb of Capuchin monks in the Roman catacombs. It is made up of several tiny chapels and is home to more than 3,700 bodies. The Catholic order claims that isn’t supposed to be a macabre scene, but a reminder of our short time on earth.

This here is a small child hanging out with the Krampus. He hangs around at Christmastime punishing kids who are bad by freaking them out with his half-goat, half-demon body.

Someone Call The Exorcist!

Just kidding, this is actually from an experimental theater piece by Jean Cocteau who was famous for these kinds of stunts and stories. It’s pretty convincing for its time, very realistic.

This Is Called “Baby Sleeps On Couch”

There is no mention of the ghost that’s hanging out around the top of the photo there. It was very popular at one time to layer negatives while developing film to create spooky effects.

The High Hopes Sign Just Makes It

Here we see a detective and police officer going into the home of the DeFeo family, who were founded murdered in the residence. The infamous scene would eventually make the home the basis of the setting of the film The Amityville Horror.

This Picture Has Been Debated A Lot

This picture was taken in 1912 and depicts medium Eva C performing a seance. She is pulling a spirit from the other side and has something materialize in this photo. We know now that she faked it all.

This is a box of glass eyeballs waiting for someone to look through them and pick whichever suits them best. While it is a little weird, I’m sure it brought a lot of people some irreplaceable self-esteem.

This is another example of photographers playing with exposures while developing film. It’s pretty incredible the things they were able to do without Photoshop and other editing programs we have now.

Jolly Boy is a very scary name for a clown, especially when they look like the kind of jolly you might see in your worst nightmares. The jeans are definitely what really bring this outfit together.

Medicine Has Come A Long Way
