Time Has Really Gotten The Best Of These Everyday Objects
Time really does take its toll on us all. Nothing is permanent in this world, and that means that over time, even our most stable structures tend to deteriorate. The good thing is that these signs of deterioration are also signs that something has been well-loved.
Keep reading to see some objects and places that have been around for a really long time. They don’t look as new as they used to, but that’s okay with us.
Indented Stairs

This staircase is hundreds of years old and it really shows.
You can really see all those indents in the steps from years and years of shoes slamming down on them.
A Worn Out Key

How many times was this key shoved into a car’s ignition? It looks like half the metal is gone.
This Honda key must belong to a really old (and well-loved) car.
The Tread Is Gone

I don’t think that it’s safe to walk around in these boots anymore. It looks like the tread is completely worn away.
I would call these a total slipping hazard.
A Very Old Chain

The link in this chain has been pulled around in this spot for so long that it looks like it’s about to break.
More than half of the metal is gone from that one spot.
A Different Kind Of Magic Carpet

This carpet is so old and worn down that you can barely even see it anymore.
You can totally see the cobblestone underneath right through what’s left of the fabric.
A Whole Lot Of Staples

This pole is completely obscured by all of the staples that have been stapled to it over the years.
Imagine how many flyers and ads have been stuck to this thing.
A Well-Loved Teddy

Believe it or not, the two teddy bears in this photo were actually bought at the same time.
One was given to a little boy, and one was given to his sister. She was a little harder on hers.
Is That Even A Bolt Anymore?

This bolt (the one on the left) used to look like a normal bolt.
Then people kept tying ropes around it so that they could temporarily dock their ships and this happened.
Years Of Crossword Puzzles

This clipboard belongs to a person who likes to do a lot of crossword puzzles. The puzzle is always in the same spot.
I guess the ink in the paper transfers sometimes.
A Very Smooth Mouse

You can see exactly where this person puts pressure on their mouse
All of those spots, as well as the pattern on the bottom of the mouse, has been rubbed smooth.
It Left An Impression

This person had a little cable in their leather wallet for so long that it left a lasting impression.
The cable isn’t even in his wallet anymore, but the impression is still there.
Where Does The Metal Go?

This knife has been worn down from years of use and sharpening. So where does all that metal end up?
Are we eating it? Are we breathing it in as dust?
A Well-Used Ping Pong Table

This ping pong table has been used so many times that it is missing most of its paint.
The paint in the middle of the table is fine, it’s only the paint at the ends of the table that’s worn away.
Why You Should Always Have A Case

This person found his old iPod and placed it next to a new iPod.
You can tell immediately which is the old one because it’s the one with all of the scratches.
Ring The Bell

The top of this door is completely worn out and dented from all of the times that it hit the bell as people were walking in and out.
It might be time for a new door.
Rub His Nose For Good Luck

So many people have rubbed this dog’s nose for good luck that it’s now the only part of this statue that’s gold and shiny.
The dog doesn’t look too upset about it.
A Stack Of Bills

Fresh, untouched money is so satisfying to look at.
The stack of bills that’s been around the block a few times looks a little bent out of shape. Those new bills are so crisp.
Are Those Even Toes Anymore?

This statue has had his toes rubbed by passers-by so many times that they don’t even look like toes anymore.
How many people do you think had to touch those toes for this to happen?
The Life Of A Mallet

The mallet on the left has been used so many times that it’s barely even a mallet anymore. It’s just the casing that holds the mallet parts.
It looks like it had a good life…
