The Hittites emerged as a dominant power in Anatolia around 1650 BCE, known for their early adoption of iron technology. They were among the first to smelt and work iron, giving them a significant advantage in warfare and agriculture.

The Hittites also excelled in diplomacy, famously signing one of the earliest known peace treaties with Egypt after the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BCE. Their innovative approaches to governance and diplomacy left a lasting mark on subsequent civilizations.
